As we are fast approaching the end of the year we start looking ahead to the styles and products that our clients are going to be gravitating to next, from the right hardware, and statement colours to statement lighting, all these elements can give rise to the most welcoming and visually-pleasing modern kitchen.
So, whether you’re planning a complete kitchen renovation in the new year, or just want some refreshing ideas to update your space, we asked our team a few questions about what to look for in 2025.
I want to add T E X T U R E to my space what should I be looking at this year?
Texture is always a brilliant way to boost visual appeal, and we are seeing the use of more interesting organic textures. We have seen a shift towards softer, more natural finishes, where high texture and patterns bring an organic air to your space, especially when they’re part of a mid-century or Scandinavian design. Also look out for a broad mix of dark and light hardwood timbers, fluted designs in wood and glass, and metal décors, as these types of materials have become a strong force in kitchen design for establishing a connection to nature.
I’m thinking about changing the C O L O U R in my kitchen but can’t decide?
Kitchens in 2025 will reflect the growing trend of personalisation and sustainability, with bold and calming tones leading the way. We love to see a space which really reflects the client as a person, and we have seen people become more confident with bolder choices. With Pantone releasing their colour predictions as mocha, we really hope to see this featured in some of our designs. It adds such depth and a cool calming aesthetic, and if the outside world feels too busy right now, this shade can help create a sanctuary in which you can decompress.
Clever C O M M U N A L ideas for big families and big kitchens?
Storage is key for large families! We often design walk in pantries and double larders to ensure everything is organised and has its own place; this is and always has been a “must have” on a client wish list. Islands that incorporate a dining area are also a good idea for large families who already have a formal dining room but want somewhere that is sociable yet function for everyday use.
Finding H A R D W A R E for my kitchen is a tricky choice what’s your favourite?
The type of hardware you go for can really transform a kitchen. We are seeing a resurgence of unlacquered metal styles and with the recent trend of brass and bronze in the kitchen as well as other interesting metals beyond just stainless steel, it feels like an interesting evolution. Both are stylish examples of a material that will age with time resulting in a more rustic patinated look. These finishes can be introduced through larger pieces like the tap or if you want to incorporate these finishes elsewhere, the handles are a good way to do this. We always say don’t be afraid to mix metals, always choose metals that compliment rather than having the same metal throughout.
What L I G H T inspiration should I be looking at?
With every aspect of the lighting in your kitchen important, the trio of drop pendants, has become popular when it comes to kitchen island lighting, this adds ambiance and atmosphere to the space rather than the generic ceiling spotlights. Mood lighting within the scheme, such as wall lights above open shelving adds character and interest to the kitchen.
Why choose S U S T A I N A B L E resources in the New Year?
When it comes to sustainability, 2025 we hope to see a rise in the use of renewable and recycled materials, and we should all be thinking about what we can change or incorporate. Energy efficiency is also important for kitchen design 2025, and the integration of smart, energy-saving appliances is a significant trend. From refrigerators that monitor their contents to ovens that can be controlled remotely via smartphone apps, the modern kitchen is becoming more intuitive and efficient.
What’s your F A V O U R I T E design shift?
Extractor hood ideas that blend into their surroundings are often the most elegant design intervention for kitchens, and by choosing a material such as tile to clad behind the range, you’ll have a dynamic, and affordable, way to make a feature that doesn’t overtake your kitchen design. We are seeing more people opting for plaster hoods, which creates a soft yet classic look which will stand the test of time. When it comes to hood options we seem to be steering away from the metal and going for a more organic look, both in terms of material and shape.
