So, we asked members of the Mowlem and Co. team to share the questions they hear most often and explain what the process is really like.

This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions we hear. Whilst we do create some very large, highly detailed projects, many of our kitchens begin from around £50,000. Every project is different, and the overall cost reflects the size, scope and complexity of the design rather than a fixed minimum spend.
What you’re investing in is thoughtful design. We spend time understanding how you live, cook and use your home so we can prioritise the elements that will have the greatest impact. It’s about making your budget work as hard as possible, avoiding unnecessary compromises and creating a kitchen that feels genuinely tailored to you.

Not at all. Many of our clients come to us directly, often at the very beginning of their project. Some already have an architect or interior designer involved, while others are simply exploring what’s possible.
We’re always happy to work alongside architects, interior designers and contractors as part of a wider team, but we’re equally comfortable guiding clients through the entire process ourselves. Our role is to make the journey feel straightforward, helping you make informed decisions while ensuring every detail comes together seamlessly.

In reality, that’s rarely the case. Because every project is designed specifically for each client, there are always conversations to be had around materials, finishes, specifications and priorities. Working collaboratively allows us to refine the design intelligently, managing costs without losing what made the scheme special in the first place.
Often, relatively small changes can make a meaningful difference while preserving the functionality, character and overall aesthetic of the design. Our aim is always to strike the right balance between ambition and budget.
