It is easy to just focus on creating a beautifully aesthetic kitchen but it has to remain at its core a practical space. So we have put together a collection of our top five current kitchen ideas for you to draw inspiration from, design ideas that just make sense.
Utilise room dividers between your kitchen ~ If you are undecided between an open-plan and a closed-concept layout, introducing dividers or glass screens is a hugely versatile option, giving you the choice to close off the kitchen without creating a visual divide. Not only does this offer a wonderfully stylish and hardworking element but it also gives separation of space and can flood the room with natural light.
A hidden pantry ~ Whether you’re a minimalist who loves a pristine, clutter free space or a seasoned entertainer who’d rather guests sip cocktails than look at the chaos of your creations, tucking away the functional parts of the kitchen is a regular design request from our clients. It can also become a beautiful space in its own right, a whole separate room with incredible bespoke joinery, open shelves and expertly proportioned cupboards to perfectly house your collection of jars, and every baking dish you own.
Let a range cooker take centre stage ~ A range cooker is a wonderful luxury, so if you plan on incorporating one in your kitchen design, let it become the focal point. In this space below, an exquisite Lacanche range cooker sits at the heart of the Wiltshire Kitchen, and the surrounding decor, all kept quite classic and neutral, really allows it to shine. A point to note, a standard, exposed range hood can be a rather unsightly feature. However, you can elevate this with cabinetry or a plaster finish that instantly elevates the look and creates a more seamless design.
Break up solid runs of cabinetry with floating shelves ~ Adding in some open shelving provides not only storage, but a lovely place to add treasured items and characterful displays, and happily breaks up those walls of cabinets. You can select materials that match your existing cabinetry for a more cohesive look or add in different materials to evoke a more textured style, the joy is whether you prefer classic vibes or a modern aesthetic, there are floating shelf designs to suit any kitchen style.
Create a sense of tradition ~ It’s been a noticeable trend for 2025 as freestanding designs have a truly timeless appeal to them. Freestanding kitchens range from fully unfitted spaces to single pieces, such as a standalone pantry cupboard or island so they can move as your needs change, and potentially even move homes with you. While a fully unfitted design can be a striking choice, they aren’t always the most practical. Instead, try mixing freestanding furniture into your kitchen alongside built-in units for a more eclectic design.
